TEXAS – A Blending of Cultures Fiber Arts Exhibit
May 1st -30th 2010
at the Mexican American Cultural Center
The opening gala for Fiber Arts Exhibit was phenomenal. I’ve never seen such artistic minds come together and the pieces on showcase were amazing. The fashion show had inspiring designs and the models were fantastic. Applause to Carol, Jennifer and company for working hard to put on a great show!
You can catch the rest of the exhibit At the MACC until the end of the month! You’ll be glad you did
About Texas Museum of Fiber Arts
http://www.texasfiberarts.org/
“The Texas Museum of Fiber Arts was created to foster education and creativity in fiber art expression, experience, and appreciation.
This innovative museum exists to generate and promote artistic expressions in fiber arts of all kinds by exhibiting works of Texas artists and art made by Texans. It will promote and advance fiber art with educational activities and touring exhibits placed in selected venues throughout the state. In addition, the TMFA will work collaboratively and network with the many fine existing museums and institutions and fiber arts organizations.”

Wonderful photography except you left out one whole section of the Event…the Artists who were participating as Exhibitors/vendors just outside the main Exhibit hall. Why????
I was the person who helped organize this part of the event. We had 9 unique and creative people, including myself, who were also an integral part of this TMFA event. A couple of them were even included in the Exhibit. Why did we get left out?
Mary,
Thanks for checking out the photos, I appreciate your comment.
I am sad to have missed out on the Exhibitor/Vendors outside. I was at the MACC for a brief hour and stayed just a little longer before having to travel to another engagement that evening. There was a lot of talent and creative minds, I wish I had the chance meet all of you. With all the monumental preparation and work going into the event, I understand your disappointment in not having photos to credit the unique individuals making the event possible. I know I would have enjoyed to capturing the interactions outside, it was unfortunate I couldn’t stay longer.
Photos aside, much praise to those who worked hard to coordinate the event. At first I was completely unfamiliar with TMFA and didn’t know about the Gala until a friend connected me with Jennifer. I am glad the Exhibit is open to the Austin community – it truly is a wonderful experience.
Great work christian I love the pics your getting better every time
Jon, it was a great time thanks for connecting me! Your work and hustle inspire me. That and we know how to party
This is the fourth TMFA exhibit that i have participated in and each year it gets better! The MACC exhibition space is wonderful and having the exhibit up for a month+ is great.
I’m honored to have my small piece in this exhibit. Kudos to all who worked so hard to make this event happen. It truly “takes a village”, lots of volunteers, who give their time and expertise. Thanks, Christian, for the great photographs…I’m sure that TMFA 2011 will be even bigger and better! Kudos also, the the lady who dreamed up TMFA…and has made it happen! Thank you Carol, for creating this wonderful organization/event! And…thank you to all of the wonderful Fiber Artists that are out there…what are you working on for 2011?
How very wonderful to post pictures for those of us who couldn’t be there for the show! It is a wonderful venue. So much work must have gone into this exhibiton!

Wish I could have been there – nice pictures. I see familiar faces (Gloria Garza, Rachel Edwards). As historian for HAFA (and charter member)- this is great for archival files! Keep it up.
