CharityBash Date Auction 2010

Last Thursday’s CharityBash Date Auction was one of the funnest events I’ve had the pleasure of shooting in recent memory. It was a HUGE success, raising $95k benefiting 100% to New Milestones Foundation, Arc of the Capital Area, and Imagine Art — all nonprofits that work with people with mental disabilities. AMAZING! There were 19 bachelors and bachelorettes and some pretty ridiculous date packages auctioned off by Andrew Bost. Delectable desserts in a pretty showcase by L’s Cupcake Cafe. Gazelle Run for the Water 2010

Volunteers from AMD and Gilbert’s Gazelles helped hydrate runners during the 10 mile Run for the Water. It was an overcast and dewy Halloween morning and water stop Mile 6 was just after a long and nasty hill around Scenic Drive. If you have run this part of Lake Austin, you know it is no walk in the park. The runners looked fierce, and the spirited volunteers just as intense. Check out the photos and congratulations to all the runners!

Viva la Vida Fest 2010: 27th Annual Día de los Muertos

Mexic-Arte presented the 27th annual Día de los Muertos festival — Viva La Vida 2010!

Festivities and preparation for the parade started at Saltillo Plaza in East Austin. Then the procession marched at 6pm with many dressed in costume and skulls, large props, and Austin Samba School dancing and drumming the whole way to Congress Avenue! My highlight is getting to push around a skeleton horse during the parade

Austin2Zambia Silent Auction Fundraiser

Olga celebrated her 25th birthday earlier this year, and this was the final fundraiser for her team from Dell Children’s hospital before they embark to Zambia to help serve children at Grace Orphan School.

An evening of laughter, music, food and drink, and silent auction held at Rusty Spurs on 7th. I bid on the Alamo Drafthouse package but alas one lucky winner outbid me!

Travel is such a rich experience. And if one can do it while helping others, that is something I admire. Best wishes to Olga and her team!

This was the BIG BASH. If you couldn’t make it, you missed on one hell of a charity party to usher in the summer. Gourmet apps by Cantina Laredo and Frank, delectable desserts by L’s Cupcake Cafe, popcorn bar by Cornucopia, in-house photobooth by David Finkel Photography, two stilted entertainers with juggling flaming acts, and I thought I saw a magician roaming around doing card tricks. Olga’s 25th Birthday, an African-Brazilian Fundraising Celebration!

Olga’s 25th Birthday Celebration and Fundraiser for School in Africa

Olga once taught me “hello” in Russian. She also might enjoy carrot cupcakes. But I think anyone who meets Olga will quickly realize her excitement for travel, teaching and serving people, and making great times with friends. I think this birthday fundraiser was a reflection of a lot of that. Olga is a nurse at Dell Children’s. And she loves to salsa dance. So with her passions, her ability to dream big, and the help of her friends and family, came one enjoyable night that in the end helped support a school in Zambia.

Olga will be traveling to Africa this August on a mission trip to serve the children at Grace Orphan School in Mufulira, Zambia. All the proceeds from the event will go towards the construction of a school, feeding, clothing and medicating the orphans. DJ Manolis on decks to keep the dancers going all night.

Texas Museum of Fiber Arts Presents: A Blending of Cultures Exhibit Opening Gala

at the Mexican American Cultural Center

The opening gala for Fiber Arts Exhibit was phenomenal. I’ve never seen such artistic minds come together and the pieces on showcase were amazing. The fashion show had inspiring designs and the models were fantastic. Applause to Carol, Jennifer and company for working hard to put on a great show!

Thursday evening, PNG was excited to host an evening honoring clients and local business professionals at the Belmont’s Palm Terrace. Delicious drinks were served as we enjoyed a beautiful sunset to usher in the summer months! Prizes included neat stuff like box seats for the Round Rock Express, a free Wine Tasting for 12 at Vintners Cellar, Gift Cards & more!
